Troubleshooting TP Link WiFi Issues

There are four primary causes of the issue:

Post configuration The RE Light Turned Off

In such cases, you should ask the person in question to provide you with the password for their router that serves as the primary one. Once you have this information, then proceed with these steps:

  • Verify the password on your router's management site by logging into its management website. Ensure the extender is at least 3 feet from the router for optimal performance.

  • Click the reset button to finish the factory reset process after some time has passed.

  • Starting from zero, configure your range extender configuration as usual. The RE light should illuminate automatically after this step; if not, turn it off and ensure it's on again.

  • Allow it at least two minutes to start working before continuing its tasks.

  • Make sure the range extender has been upgraded. If not, upgrade it to the most recent firmware and reconfigure it accordingly.

  • Verify the primary router to ensure it does not have other security settings enabled.

  • Sign in to your extender at TP-Link's primary website using your router's IP address (located on its interface).

  • Once your login has been successful, take a screenshot of the status screen and save it to your system log file.

RE Lights On But There is No Connection

If your RE lights are lit, but your TP Link wifi extender is not working with your device, try these steps:

  • Once you've selected your device, test its wireless signal strength.

  • If your device is having difficulty connecting to the extender network, unplug any wireless profiles associated with that gadget from the extender.

  • Once done, connect your device directly to the Wi-Fi router at home.

  • If your device can connect to your router, you may make other connections to the TP Link extender.
